Initial access to Cyberblock Computer
Do one of the following. This simply confirms that the Cyberblock Computer is successfully booted up and a part of your home network.
Router Configuration
Each router brand/model has its own way to perform these configuration steps. Please refer
to the manual for your router or online resources. Links to common routers can be found
here
The Cyberblock Computer is configured to get a DHCP assigned IP address from the home router. Typical
IP addresses on home routers are something like 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x. Since the
Cyberblock Computer provides network services( DNS filtering ) its best practice to assign it a
reserved address. For example it would always have the IP address of 192.168.0.10.
- Using a web browser, access your router's management interface
- Some routers have names you can type into your web browser
- Some routers are accessed via their IP address, Ex: 192.168.0.1
- Configure a DHCP Reservation for the Cyberblock Computer so its always at the
same IP Address.
- Ex: 192.168.0.10 if you home router uses the 192.168.0.x subnet
- Typically, routers just have you specify the last number, "10" in the above example.
- The MAC address of the Cyberblock Computer is printed on a label on the Cyberblock Computer. This Information
is typically wanted or confirmed by routers in their configuration dialogs.
- Configure the Routers DHCP Server to use the Cyberblock Computer reserved IP address as the LAN DNS server
- Power cycle the Cyberblock Computer
